National Identity Cards

Benefits of an Independent Data Authentication / Integrity Service to Government Agencies

The National ID Card (NIDC) scheme is highly emotive and subject to intense scrutiny.  It is only one of a number of government projects where integrity of electronic data is of paramount importance.

In order for such schemes to be made acceptable to the public it is important that they are trusted and that such trust is based upon reliable data, the integrity of which is protected in the public domain and is not influenced by another government body.  In order to fulfil such a requirement, the use of an independent trusted third party such as Codel should ideally be used to provide a mechanism.  By taking this approach the public can be assured that such information is independently controlled and that the third party will not be affected by undue influences.

Codel provides a simple, efficient and inexpensive way of ensuring trust and integrity data held or shared throughout government.
