Proving Product Authenticity and Location
Accurate knowledge of item location enhances logistics applications, so that if items are marked uniquely with an RFID tag or a unique bar code it is theoretically possible to trace them right through the supply chain. The goal is end-to-end visibility, giving a myriad of benefits such as anti-counterfeiting, improved inventory management, better quality, communication with customers and so on. At present it is impossible to unlock these benefits because there is no universal mechanism that has been agreed for sharing information securely and protecting participants' privacy.
